This site is meant to be a small window into my world. The interior landscape will change as time passes.
Person in transition: I'm delighted to be working as a Public Services Librarian at Vancouver Community College Library after two years as a full-time grad student working on an MLIS degree at the University of British Columbia's School of Library, Archival and Information Studies (SLAIS). This follows on the heels of stints as an English teacher and work in the film industry.
In April 2006, I returned to Vancouver after 2.5 years in a full-time position in the Faculty of Law and Letters at the University of the Ryukyus in Okinawa, Japan. My responsibilities there included teaching communicative English to majors in the department, as well as to students from the Faculty of Education.
Previous teaching jobs on the island of Kyushu, in Japan, (1992-'97) were followed by two summers at UBC (English Language Institute) and at Columbia College. Subsequently, for over 5 years (until September '03) I worked full-time in film and television, joining the Union of B.C. Performers and ACTRA.
ANYWAY, I'm not alone here in Vancouver. My wife, Linda, is also enjoying this place. Both graduates of UBC, we share many interests. In our spare time we like to explore various corners of the world, including southwestern British Columbia, by lacing up hiking boots, pulling on cycling togs, or going on flying or diving adventures, then looking cool as we pose for the memento photos.
